Vishnu Temple marks the point in the Grand Canyon where the Colorado River turns from its southernly direction coming from Lees Ferry to a westerly direction towards the Granite Gorge, Phantom Ranch, and eventually the banks of Lake Mead. Its almost as if Vishnu itself wills the river to turn and bend changing direction of the missive red river. A shapeshifter, Vishnu looks different from almost every angle, but easily recognizable as a monolithic giant in a sea of rock, a protector of the Canyon, and to some, the bringer of balance to good and evil.
